An object relational-mapping (ORM) library for Java
Hibernate is an Object/Relational Mapper tool. It's very popular among Java applications and implements the Java Persistence API. Hibernate ORM enables developers to more easily write applications whose data outlives the application process. As an Object/Relational Mapping (ORM) framework, Hibernate is concerned with data persistence as it applies to relational databases (via JDBC).
An Apache SVN client, right where you need it most
TortoiseSVN is a Subversion (SVN) client, implemented as a windows shell extension. Which means it's available right where you need it: in the Windows file explorer. It's intuitive and easy to use, since it doesn't require the Subversion command line client to run. Simply the coolest Interface to (Sub)Version Control! NOTE: The project has moved to osdn.net: https://osdn.net/projects/tortoisesvn/

Windows visual diff and merge for files and directories
WinMerge is a Windows tool for visual difference display and merging, for both files and directories. It is highly useful for determining what has changed between file versions, and then merging those changes. WinMerge has Unicode support, Flexible syntax coloring editor, Visual SourceSafe integration, and Windows Shell integration. Regexp filtering for filenames and lines. Side-by-side line difference and highlights differences inside lines. A file map shows the overall file differences in a location pane. The user interface is translated into several languages.
Create software without writing a single line of code
PWCT is not a Wizard for creating your application in 1 2 3 steps. PWCT is a general-purpose visual programming language designed for novice and expert programmers. A novice programmer can use PWCT to learn programming concepts like Data Structures, Control Structures and Programming Paradigms. An expert programmer can use PWCT to create any large and complex software. Using PWCT we developed a textual programming language Compiler and Virtual Machine without writing a single line of code where the programming process done using the PWCT visual components. This language called Supernova and it's free-open source. Many database, Multi-Media, Network, AI, Simulation & Math applications are developed using PWCT You can see/edit the generated source code. PWCT support Harbour, Supernova, C, Python, & C#.NET and you can extend PWCT to support code generation in any text based programming language. PWCT comes with many samples, tutorials and movies.
Provides native Win32 open source ports and utilities
GnuWin provides Win32-versions of GNU tools, or tools with a similar open source licence. The ports are native ports, relying only on libraries provided with any modern 32-bits MS-Windows operating system, such as 2000 / XP / Vista / 7
SIMD-accelerated libjpeg-compatible JPEG codec library
libjpeg-turbo is a JPEG image codec that uses SIMD instructions (MMX, SSE2, NEON, AltiVec) to accelerate baseline JPEG compression and decompression on x86, x86-64, ARM, and PowerPC systems. On such systems, libjpeg-turbo is generally 2-6x as fast as libjpeg, all else being equal. On other types of systems, libjpeg-turbo can still outperform libjpeg by a significant amount, by virtue of its highly-optimized Huffman coding routines. In many cases, the performance of libjpeg-turbo rivals that of proprietary high-speed JPEG codecs. libjpeg-turbo implements both the traditional libjpeg API as well as the less powerful but more straightforward TurboJPEG API. libjpeg-turbo also features colorspace extensions that allow it to compress from/decompress to 32-bit and big-endian pixel buffers (RGBX, XBGR, etc.), as well as a full-featured Java interface.

A code generator for connecting C/C++ with other programming languages
SWIG is a software development tool that connects programs written in C and C++ with a variety of high-level programming languages. SWIG is used with different types of target languages including common scripting languages such as Javascript, Perl, PHP, Python, Tcl and Ruby. The list of supported languages also includes non-scripting languages such as C#, D, Go language, Java, Lua, OCaml, Octave, R and Scilab. Also several interpreted and compiled Scheme implementations (Guile, MzScheme/Racket) are supported. SWIG is most commonly used to create high-level interpreted or compiled programming environments, user interfaces, and as a tool for testing and prototyping C/C++ software. SWIG is typically used to parse C/C++ interfaces and generate the 'glue code' required for the above target languages to call into the C/C++ code. SWIG can also export its parse tree in the form of XML.

flex is a tool for generating scanners
flex is a tool for generating scanners. A scanner, sometimes called a tokenizer, is a program which recognizes lexical patterns in text. The flex program reads user-specified input files, or its standard input if no file names are given, for a description of a scanner to generate. The description is in the form of pairs of regular expressions and C code, called rules. Flex generates a C source file named, "lex.yy.c", which defines the function yylex(). The file "lex.yy.c" can be compiled and linked to produce an executable. When the executable is run, it analyzes its input for occurrences of text matching the regular expressions for each rule. Whenever it finds a match, it executes the corresponding C code.

A software construction tool
SCons is a software construction tool that is a superior alternative to the classic "Make" build tool that we all know and love. SCons is implemented as a Python script and set of modules, and SCons "configuration files" are actually executed as Python scripts. This gives SCons many powerful capabilities not found in other software build tools. We make SCons available in three distinct packages, for different purposes. - The scons package is the basic package to install SCons. You don't need any other package if you just want to try out SCons. - The scons-local package executes as a SCons standalone, out of a local directory. It's intended to be dropped in to and shipped with packages of other software for builds with SCons but not as a required install. - The scons-src package is the complete source tree, including everything we use to package SCons and all of the regression tests.
