A modern, SCADA HMI for substations, IoT and automation applications
This project combines existing open source projects and tools to create a very capable, mobile and cloud-friendly HMI system that can rival proprietary software. This approach makes it possible to sum the forces of each project (Chromium, SVG/HTML5, PHP, Lua, SQLite, Inkscape, OpenDNP3, Nginx, Vega, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Grafana,…) to achieve a great set of open, evergreen, modular and customizable tools for building great HMIs for automation projects. This is not a toy project! It's been actually used in dozens of substations up to 230kV level and also in control centers with configurations up to 70.000 tags. Feel free to ask any question in the "Discussion" section. Online demo: http://vmi233205.contaboserver.net:51909/ Give it a try and collaborate with the project!
Quality Assessment Tool for Genome Assemblies
QUAST performs fast and convenient quality evaluation and comparison of genome assemblies. QUAST computes a number of well-known metrics, including contig accuracy, number of genes discovered, N50, and others, as well as introducing new ones, like NA50 (see details in the paper and in the manual). A comprehensive analysis results in summary tables (in plain text, tab-separated and LaTeX formats) and colorful plots. The tool also produces web-based reports condensing all information in one easy to navigate file. QUAST has an intuitive command-line interface and a detailed manual to help users run it and understand its output. Furthermore, the Lab started a Beta version of web-QUAST at http://quast.bioinf.spbau.ru/ which makes quality evaluation even more simple. QUAST and MetaQUAST (extension for metagenomic assemblies) papers were published in Bioinformatics.

Virtual Sound Level Meter for analyzing calibrated sound files
This project is the MATLAB development of a virtual sound level meter. The program will read in a calibrated .wav file and allow the user to analyze it as one would analyze a sound field with a sound level meter. The software implements Fast, Slow, Impulse and LEQ; A, C and Flat Weighting; Ln and Noise Dose analysis; Octave and 1/3 Octave band analysis; high resolution FFT analysis and spectrograms. Band analysis can be made using fast FFT methods or slower, but ANSI standard methods. Source code requires MATLAB + Signal Processing Toolbox. Developed under MATLAB R2010a (but might work with some earlier versions) Executable version does not require MATLAB and runs under Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.
Java Disk Benchmark Utility
Simple Java utility to help bench mark disk IO. Benchmark is done by creating and reading data files to a user directory that can be configured. If you find this tool useful a review and or user feedback would be very appreciated. Please send feedback to: jamesmarkchan[at]gmail.com We also welcome feature request and or code contributions. https://gitlab.com/jamesmarkchan/jDiskMark/ Note: When doing a combined read and write operation the disk cache is not cleared automatically so the app must be restarted to avoid the cache from affecting read IO performance.

Testing images for scientific purposes
The TESTIMAGES archive is a huge and free collection of sample images designed for analysis and quality assessment of different kinds of displays and image processing techniques. The archive includes more than 2 million images originally acquired and divided in three different categories: SAMPLING and SAMPLING_PATTERNS (aimed at testing resampling algorithms), COLOR (aimed at testing color rendering on different displays) and PATTERNS (aimed at testing the rendering of standard geometrical patterns). Please cite the following papers when using any image in this archive: * ASUNI N, GIACHETTI A, "TESTIMAGES: A Large Data Archive For Display and Algorithm Testing", Journal of Graphics Tools, Volume 17, Issue 4, 2015, pages 113-125, DOI:10.1080/2165347X.2015.1024298 * ASUNI N, GIACHETTI A, "TESTIMAGES: a large-scale archive for testing visual devices and basic image processing algorithms", STAG - Smart Tools & Apps for Graphics Conference, 2014.
Serial Bootloader for Microchip, Atmel, NXP, TI, 8051 microcontrolers
What is it? It's a Bootloader for Microchip, Atmel, NXP, TI and 8051 devices. A Bootloader is a firmware running in the microcontroler device which allows the user to send it's own firmware without the need of a programmer. This Bootloader consists of: - firmwares for many devices (this firmware need to be send to the device's flash memory with a programmer, only once) - a PC software which communicates with the bootloader firmware in the device and send the user's program in its memory Where does it come from? This Bootloader is based on "Tiny PIC Bootloader" made by Claudiu Chiculita. A special THANK to him!!! What can it do? It can program: - Microchip PIC10/12/16/18/24/32/dsPIC30/33 - Atmel ATtiny, ATmega - TI MPS430 - NXP ARM Cortex-M0+ - Silicon Labs C8051 And this: - with light modifications to the Bootloader firmware for new devices - without modifying your source code or using a special linker script - via GUI or command line prog - with automatic Reset

Microcontroller based PC Oscilloscope
PPMScope is a do-it-yourself oscilloscope with an open source design. The intent is that the project can be constructed by an electronics hobbiest using the instructions included. The design is a compromise between features and cost. The bandwidth is lower than a commercial scope, so it's use is limited to signals of 500 kHz and below. It's sample buffer is also smaller than a commercial scope, however sufficient for most oscilloscope functions. This is a version based on the PIC16F877A microcontroller running with a 20MHz clock. The maximum sampling rate is 1 MHz with a 5 Mhz equivalent sampling mode. Currently, the computer interface supports USB, serial, and parallel ports. Good luck on the construction and I hope you enjoy your oscilloscope. I am happy to answer any questions or provide technical support for this design.
CSV Comparator is a tool for comparing files which contain CSV-Data.
CSV Comparator is a tool for comparing files which contain CSV-Data. It was created for performance engineers to be able to have a easy way to compare data from two testruns and be able to automate the comparing process of various files with scripts. There is a command line tool as well as a user interface. In case you need to compare .xml-Files you can convert them to .csv-Files with my other project CSV Transformer. The advantages by using CSV as input and output are the following: - Many applications allow an export of its data to CSV or Excel(were it could be saved to CSV) - It is possible to pre- and postprocess the data, e.g removing version numbers before comparing - It is easy to create CSV data from logfiles and other resources by using unix tools like sed or awk - CSV can be loaded into other applications, especially Excel, were it can be formatted by macros for analyzing.
