    This project is the MATLAB development of a virtual sound level meter. The program will read in a calibrated .wav file and allow the user to analyze it as one would analyze a sound field with a sound level meter. The software implements Fast, Slow, Impulse and LEQ; A, C and Flat Weighting; Ln and Noise Dose analysis; Octave and 1/3 Octave band analysis; high resolution FFT analysis and spectrograms. Band analysis can be made using fast FFT methods or slower, but ANSI standard methods. Source code requires MATLAB + Signal Processing Toolbox. Developed under MATLAB R2010a (but might work with some earlier versions) Executable version does not require MATLAB and runs under Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.

    PPMScope is a do-it-yourself oscilloscope with an open source design. The intent is that the project can be constructed by an electronics hobbiest using the instructions included. The design is a compromise between features and cost. The bandwidth is lower than a commercial scope, so it's use is limited to signals of 500 kHz and below. It's sample buffer is also smaller than a commercial scope, however sufficient for most oscilloscope functions. This is a version based on the PIC16F877A microcontroller running with a 20MHz clock. The maximum sampling rate is 1 MHz with a 5 Mhz equivalent sampling mode. Currently, the computer interface supports USB, serial, and parallel ports. It was created for performance engineers to be able to have a easy way to compare data from two testruns and be able to automate the comparing process of various files with scripts. There is a command line tool as well as a user interface. In case you need to compare .xml-Files you can convert them to .csv-Files with my other project CSV Transformer. The advantages by using CSV as input and output are the following: - Many applications allow an export of its data to CSV or Excel(were it could be saved to CSV) - It is possible to pre- and postprocess the data, e.g removing version numbers before comparing - It is easy to create CSV data from logfiles and other resources by using unix tools like sed or awk - CSV can be loaded into other applications, especially Excel, were it can be formatted by macros for analyzing.
